Themed Environments

For these two projects I was tasked with learning Maya as a tool for visually communicating stories for both interior and exterior environments. I utilized my strengths in storytelling, lighting design, color design, visual design, and graphic rendering to create these thoughtful and enchanting design concepts through the development of digital 3D spaces. I had to understand and analyze the factors that create effective virtual environments and understand the relationship of interaction for the user experience.

The first project is The Mice Before Christmas Interior Environment. It is a story that plays off of the "Twas The Night Before Christmas Poem" by Clement Clarke Moore. I wrote an addendum to the poem explaining what the mouse house might look like at Christmas time.

The second concept is Full Moon Fairytale concept. I wanted to challenge the idea that everything in a child's life needs to be all about princesses and castles. Bringing the idea of a playhouse castle to another level, I decide to create a spooky or haunted style playhouse that utilized lighting so that play doesn't have to end when the sun goes down but rather comes alive. I think these haunted playhouses for kids have an opportunity to be the first phases of what adults experience when they go to experience horror night type attractions.

A Spooky Children's Playhouse Adventure

The night is looming against the warm glow of the colorful sunset. But here, in this forest, darkness is just an illusion. For whoever is brave enough to stay and play in this haunted playhouse, will discover the wonderous lights of the night.

The Mice Before Christmas

“Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.”

While the waiting for Santa Clause to soon be there, the cat was quietly sleeping upon her favorite chair.

We take a look into the tiny house, of the friendly family chestnut mouse.

The Christmas decorations, its easy to see, are made just for a mouse and are very cheesy.
